Hmmmm….doesn’t look like a batwing headstock? I can not wait for these to come out!

I hear ya no batwing there…
What in the world is that thing?

It looks like it has 2 p90s and a 3+3 headstock, so it is kinda hard to tell if it is a whole new animal or a reissue( of ?).

    I don’t remember any of those solid body epi’s having 2 p90s

It is like an SG or LP special combined with a coronet?

    I still want one – or two….yay

I think what we’re seeing here is a ’59 reissue Coronet, which would have the symmetrical double cutaway shape and one P-90 pickup with a 3+3 headstock. There’s a vintage one at Gary’s Classic Guitars (http://www.garysguitars.net/products/1151/1959-Epiphone-Coronet-EPE0055.htm) that he was asking $18,000 for.

The early Coronets had the New York pickup in ’58 and eventually replaced it with one P-90 in ’59 or ’60. Vigilante Carlstroem of the Hives plays a vintage ’59 Coronet (see the Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones video on YouTube).

If it comes out, I will buy it, to go with my other three Epis.

It doesn’t quite look like a symmetrical doublecut and I only see 1 p90….I think…

Oh well either way I can’t wait.

Epiphone should do the right thing and give the three of us each a demo model for being such fans!!! 🙂

Robert, I like the way you think. I would love to demo the model in question, or any other Epiphone model for that matter. And as for a possible ’59 Coronet reissue, I wrote to Gibson and suggested such a model, and they thought it was a great idea. I figured that it would sell like the limited edition ’57 reissue Les Paul Junior (which I own). The other Epis in my collection are the Les Paul Custom Silverburst and the Slash Signature Les Paul Standard.

So Epiphone, if you’re monitoring the blog, do the right thing and please send Robert, ElKabong! and myself one of the new models in question to demo.

My Epi family consists of a Metallic Red Wildkat, VS Sheraton II, Les Paul Standard (Honeyburst) and a Dot Studio in worn cherry. Love em all!

I am pretty sure it is an early 60’s wilshire. wasn’t the 59 coronet reissued already? it had a single ny chrome pickup. also, didn’t the 59 have a slab body (look at the beveled/rounded bouts)
if you look at the earlier post on here, you can see the 2nd p90

    here is vintage version

El Kabong!, I think you are ElKorrect! The ’59 Coronet did have more of a slab body. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking on my part because I want a ’59 reissue Coronet.

And Robert, a fine stable of Epis you have.I am missing a semi-hollow and at times have considered a Casino, Sheraton and Dot. El Kabong, what Epis do you have? And what do you guys think of the ’66 reissue SG in Silverburst. I nearly bought that one.

Hey Custom, not sure if I saw the Silverburst SG. I do like SG’s but am hoping Epiphone puts out an SG classic with p90’s….or a set neck SG junior.

El K, thanks for the tip on the ’59 reissues popping up. I’ll keep a lookout for one. Your collection sounds great as well.

This might help answer our questions, but I remembered something I read in Guitar World about 50 years of Epiphone saying that they have replicas of the Crestwood, Wilshire and Coronet from the Sixties on the production release schedule. We’ve now seen the Wilshire come out, so maybe the other two are coming soon.

Robert, you can see the Silverburst SG if you go to either guitarcenter.com or musiciansfriend.com and put Epiphone 1966 in the search field. It’s a reissue 1966 SG that’s available in Heritage Cherry or Silverburst. The Silverburst one is stunning.
