the oldest piece in our collection

blog32Here’s a ‘beaut’ for you! Check out this 1904 ‘Bowl Back’ mandolin. This is the oldest piece in our collection… so old that it carries the A. Stathopoulo brand name which was a brand name that Anastasios Stathopoulo used before his son Epimanondas (Epi) took over the company and changed the name to Epiphone. Holding this piece in your hands, you can literally feel the rich history associated with Epiphone… awesome!

prophecy les paul custom GX

blog29

Photo shoots with guitars are always fun and this morning was no exception. We had a need for some additional shots of the Prophecy Les Paul Custom GX and let me tell you… even though I have seen this guitar in person many times, it never fails to induce “tongue-hanging-out-of-mouth” syndrome! WOW! I know you will think I am totally biased but I have to say that this guitar is one of the baddest looking six-strings you will ever see. The Quilted Maple top in Black Cherry with gold hardware accents is nothing less than stunning. And it doesn’t stop with just good looks either. The satin-finish neck is super-fast and Gibson USA Dirty Fingers pickups make this thing scream!

Do yourself a favor… don’t take my word for it but run down to your local Epi dealer and check out the LPGX for yourself… in person. You’ll see what I am talking about. In the mean time you can check out the entire Prophecy line at the Epiphone Prophecy Micro-Website by CLICKING HERE.

an empty break room

blog28

Just ran into the break room here at Epi headquarters to grab a cup-o-joe… Even though it’s lunch time, that sucker was empty. Most of us are eating at our desks today. No, not because it’s ridiculously cold here in Nashville and we are afraid to move, but rather because we have so much exciting stuff going on right now that we are like a Blues Custom in overdrive mode! Crankin’ it out baby! We’re getting ready to blow you away… so stay tuned. In the mean time… have you checked out Epiphone.com today? CLICK HERE

my chemical romance goes vinyl

I just heard that our friends My Chemical Romance are releasing a special limited vinyl edition of “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” next month. That’s right I said vinyl… red vinyl to be exact. It is a must-have for any true MCR fan and will be available on December 16th…  but you can reserve your copy today at www.mychemicalromance.com.

We have worked with both Frank and Ray of MCR and about two years ago I did a live photo shoot for print ads with both guys. With all this talk about the new vinyl release I thought I’d share some of the outtakes from that shoot.

zakk attack!

I found this cool video of Zakk Wylde on YouTube recently. It was produced by Guitarist Magazine (UK) and features Zakk putting his Epiphone Bullseye Les Paul Signature Model through it’s paces. We currently offer three Zakk models in the Epi line… click on the pics below to check them out… oh, and just so you know, there are some very cool Zakk things on the horizon.

epiphone has bluegrass instruments?

blog24

We’ve been shooting a lot of video around here the past few weeks and this morning it was all bluegrass instruments. Some of you may not be aware that Epiphone has a line of banjos and mandolins that (in typical Epiphone fashion) represent the best value in bluegrass instruments anywhere.

CLICK HERE to check out the Epiphone Bluegrass lineup, including banjos, mandolins, and the electric MandoBird.

get out there and vote!

Today is a big day here in the United States… and in honor of electing our 44th President I thought I would reach into the Epiphone archives and pull out the rare Epiphone “Map” guitar. This guitar was produced for a very short time in each of the last three decades and has become quite a collectors item as a result. Will it be back soon??????

But the real reason for this little post? To encourage all Americans to GET OUT THERE AND VOTE!
